Barrios participates in the growth of the commercial spaceflight industry and supports NASA as a primary government customer, working on programs including Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Orion, Gateway, and the Space Launch System.
Responsibilities- Assist in harness design from concept and component selection, through production, qualification, and system integration
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary stakeholders to gather harness design objectives and requirements
- Develop harness design solutions within a CAD environment and manage technical trade studies to meet objectives and internal standards
- Generate electrical schematics to support flight and qualification designs
- Perform analysis and physical testing (mechanical and electrical) of harnessing with respect to thermal, loads, vibration, and shock to ensure full qualification for flight
- Create and release on-schedule appropriate harnessing manufacturing documentation and drawings
- Perform R&D investigations and trade studies to push wire harness design toward improved mass and cost savings
- Perform all other assigned duties
- BS degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus five (5) years of related experience
- OR – BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, may be expected to have a related Master’s Degree, plus ten (10) years of related experience
- OR – BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, may be expected to have a related Master’s or higher degree, plus fifteen (15) years of related experience
- OR – BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school and twenty (20) years of engineering experience
- MS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school can take the place of 2 years of appropriate work experience
- Engineering or operations experience working on Space systems
- Five (5) years of electro-mechanical wire harness design experience
- Proficiency with CAD and Windchill
- Experience with wire harness 3D design, wiring diagrams, 3D modeling of complex top-level assemblies, and analysis of avionics enclosures and secondary structures
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to solve complex design problems to tight schedules with minimal supervision
- Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and space exploration
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomous, start-up atmosphere
- Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.)
- Proficiency in Creo
- Wire harness component selection and qualification experience
- General wire harness analysis, testing, and qualification experience
- Master of Science degree in Engineering
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
- Post-offer drug testing for controlled substances as outlined in our Drug Free Workplace policy
- May involve sitting for extended periods and light lifting (up to 25 lbs)
- Mobility to access test facilities as needed
- Office environment with potential for field tasks depending on assignment
- Regular attendance and ability to work outside normal schedule during peak periods
- Team-oriented professional behavior and safety-conscious grooming and dress
- Potential commuting/travel to other installations as needed
