SummaryThe Sr. Training Specialist strengthens shop and field service operations by improving processes, resolving technical issues, and elevating technician capability. This role analyzes service performance, drives corrective actions, delivers technical and safety training, and provides advanced troubleshooting support across mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems.
Key Responsibilities Service & Operations- Monitor and improve service levels, performance, and availability across shop and field teams.
- Lead troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
- Support standard work, procedures, planning, and execution.
- Partner with engineering, supply chain, operations, and vendors to resolve systemic issues.
- Conduct service reviews and present data‑driven recommendations.
- Manage, prioritize, and resolve incident tickets.
- Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Communicate incident status and lead post‑incident reviews.
- Identify recurring issues and implement permanent corrective measures.
- Review, coordinate, and communicate change requests to minimize disruptions.
- Design and deliver technical, safety, and compliance training for shop/field technicians.
- Lead onboarding, skills assessments, and certification programs.
- Coach and mentor technicians on troubleshooting, maintenance, safety, and customer interaction.
- Address performance gaps through targeted coaching and retraining.
- Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and safety.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on complex mechanical, electrical, diesel, and multi‑system equipment.
- Act as primary technical escalation resource for technicians and service partners.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks on company and customer equipment.
- Support preventive maintenance, parts usage standards, and service documentation.
- Champion safety culture and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Deliver safety training aligned with DOT, FMCSA, and industry regulations.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and quality reviews across teams and distributors.
- Serve as a technical advisor to customers and distributor partners.
- Support service quality, training needs, and issue resolution.
- Translate complex technical details into clear guidance.
- Manage customer concerns and vendor performance.
- Analyze service, quality, and training performance metrics.
- Identify trends, skill gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Create and maintain SOPs, job aids, and technical documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Preferred:
Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology/Heavy Equipment; or bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years relevant experience. - 5–10+ years hands‑on heavy‑duty diesel repair experience.
- 3–5+ years as a technical trainer in shop, fleet, dealership, or OEM settings.
- Advanced expertise in mechanical, electrical, diesel, and multi‑system diagnostics.
- Experience developing/delivering classroom, hands‑on, and virtual training (preferred).
- Ability to create SOPs, training materials, and assessments (preferred).
- Strong diagnostic and escalation support capabilities.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and industry safety standards.
- Experience conducting safety training, audits, and inspections.
