Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on Terra Power’s Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re‑establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. Terra Power, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium.

The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost‑competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining, or the wind is not blowing.

With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power.

The Buyer independently performs purchasing and supplier coordination activities under general supervision. This role applies professional purchasing concepts and company policies to procure materials and services in support of operational and project needs. The Buyer exercises judgment within established procedures and handles moderately complex purchasing issues.

• Works under general supervision to perform purchasing tasks within defined administrative and procurement guidelines.
• Prepares and issues bid requests, requests for quotation (RFQs), and purchase orders in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Reviews supplier quotations, evaluates bids, and prepares bid tabulations and award recommendations for management approval.
• Conducts supplier communications and negotiations related to price, delivery, and commercial terms within delegated authority.
• Monitors supplier performance to ensure compliance with delivery schedules, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Resolves moderately complex issues related to supplier performance, pricing discrepancies, or delivery challenges.
• Reviews and processes purchase orders and change orders to ensure accuracy and adherence to requirements.
• Prepares and maintains purchasing documentation, files, and status reports in accordance with company standards.
• Ensures compliance with company procedures, ethical standards, and applicable regulations.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, finance, and project teams) to clarify requirements and support schedules.
• Reviews and reconciles principal payment billing and assists in resolving invoice discrepancies.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing processes and supplier management.
• Performs other purchasing‑related duties as assigned.
