We are seeking a Senior Protection & Control Designe r with technical experience in the design of HV substations for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers. In this role you will support the delivery of substation detailed design projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for electric utilities, contractors and developers. You will be the technical interface with clients and internal team members.

This position can be worked out of our offices in the West (San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles or Oakland) or South (Houston, Dallas or Austin) .

• Perform the engineering design of HV and EHV substation projects for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers.
• Prepare substation P&C design packages including: single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, control house specification, cable schedules, and bills of materials to quality, time and budget requirements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to develop a fully coordinated design.
• Work with engineers and incorporate feedback into design package.
• Interpret and incorporate design codes and client specifications related to design requirements.
• Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
• Execute changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups to project deliverables.
• Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, models, and ensure all project-related information is stored in a logical and well-structural manner.

• Associate Degree in technology or related discipline and 8 years related experience.
• At least 6 years experience in 15kV through 345kV P&C utility substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
• Excellent communication skills — able to interact with clients, regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Ability to represent the company credibly.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as needed (site visits, client/vendor meetings).
• The ability to prioritize work effectively, manage deadlines and organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment.
