Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Gas Turbine Instrument & Controls Engineer through March 11, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).

This role is a key member of the Gas Turbine Maintenance Team that is accountable for optimizing all aspects of gas turbine maintenance for the Chevron Heavy Duty and Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Global Fleet. Acts as an internal subject matter expert /consultant for all Instrumentation, controls, and electrical (ICE) aspects of gas turbine maintenance and operations. This includes turnaround/outage optimization, inventory management, procurement strategy and vendor management, upgrade projects, risk management, and troubleshooting.

The role is a blend of office and field work and requires extensive travel domestic and international plus 12+ hour shifts for up to and occasionally more than 15-30 days during outage execution and troubleshooting. Travel will vary depending on outage and project loading. Compensation time off and additional pay/international uplift are applied per applicable company policies for extended work hours on projects in excess of nominal OT for a salary position.

Responsibilities
  • This role is a key member of the team that is accountable for optimizing all facets of GT maintenance for the Chevron Gas Turbine fleet. Including but not limited to inventory management, strategic procurement, routine maintenance planning, vendor management, upgrade projects, turnaround planning and execution, troubleshooting and risk management.

  • Major turbine generator outage inspection planning and execution, turbine generator and balance of plant performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • The position requires a can‑do attitude, an ability to become an integrated member of the remote site team, an ability to deal with both fast paced outages and troubleshooting evolutions as well as long‑term planning and improvement projects.
  • The position requires the ability to use and comprehend trending and predictive maintenance computer programs. Preferred candidate will have advanced instrumentation, electrical and generator engineering experience.
  • The primary focus of the job will be GT Controls planning, execution and troubleshooting.
  • The role is a blend of office and field work and requires extensive travel domestic and international plus long 12+ hour shifts for up to and occasionally in excess of 35 days during MIs.
  • To be successful in this role the candidate must have a prior deep work history with Instrumentation & Controls / Mech HD GT field service to SME level.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Aeronautical Engineering (or closely related technical field) and a minimum of 10 years of directly applicable experience, or a high school diploma/GED and 10 years of directly applicable experience.
  • Experience working directly with the maintenance planning, execution and troubleshooting of gas turbine (GT) outages including combustion (CI), hot gas path (HGP) and major inspections (MI).
  • OEM or third‑party GT Field Service prior experience.
  • Completion of an OEM field engineering program (FEP) or direct hire program (DHP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • OEM Heavy Duty Gas Turbine Field Service or Engineering Service experience is required.
  • Prior OEM Heavy Duty Gas Turbine Field Service FEP or Direct Hire training course completion is preferred.
  • Experience with the I&C planning and execution of CI, HGPI and MI of GE Frame 5, 6, 7, and/or 9 Gas Turbines is preferred.
  • Experience with generators coupled to GE Frame 6, 7 and/or 9 turbines such as hydrogen cooled, air cooled GE, Alstom and Brush generators is preferred.
  • Experience with power generation control systems (GE MKV, MKVI, MKVIe), exciters (EX2000, EX2100, EX2100e) and relay protection preferred.
