Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials is currently seeking to hire an Auto Applications Lead Engineer for our Houston, TX site. The role is responsible for Leads the Auto Applications Research and Development efforts in support of the OF&EM’s Refrigerants Business Unit
, particularly related to Orbia’s new and emerging refrigerant options. Provide technical support for the Auto segment on a global basis (US, Europe, Asia).

About the Role
- Sustain & contribute to project management framework, governance, and associated business systems and processes to deliver strategic business initiatives in close coordination with leaders and their teams
- Works with commercial (business development, sales and marketing) teams to understand customers’ needs in the Auto segment.
- Translate customer needs into product development for automotive applications support
- Represent voice of market applications in the development of F&EM's Auto applications technology roadmap, via active participation in long term technology planning
- Ensure Orbia’s representation in Auto industry bodies (such as SAE committees). Serve as Orbia lead for SAE committee participation for standards development related to refrigerant, including CRP activities.
- Developes work plans, scope and realistic timetables for all Auto applications development projects.
- Ensure technical rigor and work alignment with project and business strategic goals
- Establish direct and deliver project and experimental process excellence, ensuring exemplary safety, health & environment performance in all experimental activities.

What You Bring
- Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time and have experience working individually/remote/on-site
- Highly motivated with a proven track record of managing applications development projects within the automotive and/or stationary thermal management industry
- Precision mindset – must follow standards and standard laboratory work practices.
- Understanding of thermodynamics and heat exchanger systems
- Advanced modeling or simulation experience
- Excellent presentation skills
- Time management, goal achievement, analytical and conceptual thinking, project coordination and planning
- Graduated degree – Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience allowed in lieu of graduated degree
- 5+ years engineering/science experience
- Technically advanced/superior level position
