Superior Completion Services is currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer - Completion Tools for our office in Houston, TX
.

Locations

Houston, TX

Responsibilities
  • Uses learned Design Engineering principles to design and modify downhole completion tools and equipment.
  • Develop conceptual designs for new products from design specifications.
  • Design, direct, and/or review the construction of layouts of possible designs and make “best choice” recommendations.
  • Generate layouts and detailed engineering calculations for new and modified equipment designs.
  • Ensure that manufacturing drawings are consistent with the working layouts for product designs.
  • Lead the assembly and lab testing of prototypes for product qualification.
  • Draft documentation of new products.
  • Provide expert-level technical assistance to manufacturing, assembly, clients, and operational personnel.
  • Check/Review machine drawings and advise on manufacturability.
  • Initiate, check, and approve change notices.
  • Initiate test procedures, test requests, and write test reports efficiently.
  • Disposition of rejected parts.
  • Mentor, guide, and supervise the work of junior designers, engineers, and drafters.
  • Manage large research and product development projects from concept to product release.
  • Provide leadership and recommendations to the department’s Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, operations, and product development.

Technical Skills
  • Knowledge, competency, and experience in the practical application of mechanical engineering practices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Expert-level in performing detailed engineering analysis of new designs and required calculations.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude in assembly and qualification of prototype designs.
  • Expert-level knowledge of core products and current practices, technology, and materials used in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficient in Solid Modeling and drafting software and drafting principles.
  • Familiar with manufacturing techniques.
  • Develop and manage engineering development project timelines.

  • Ability to work hands-on in a test lab facility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Education & Experience

A bachelor’s degree in engineering from a four-year college or university is required, with a minimum of ten years of experience in the design of equipment (preferably in the oil and gas industry) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
