Job Description & How to Apply Below

At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. While we are most well‑known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, we provide much more than that. We create an unshakable foundation for progress because our multidisciplinary teams also include scientists, economists, builders, analysts and artists. That’s why we believe diversity is our greatest strength.

HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

Watch Our Story:

We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world. That ideas inspire positive change. That coloring outside the lines can illuminate fresh perspectives. And that small details yield important realizations. Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.

HDR Engineering is currently seeking multiple Power Delivery Project Managers/Team Leads to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in Texas. Our priority location is Houston; however, we are seeking talented professionals interested in working in our Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and El Paso offices.

Primary Responsibilities

As part of a well-established Power Delivery practice in Texas, this is an excellent opportunity to take your career to the next level. You will have the opportunity to build and lead your own team of Power Delivery (Substation, Transmission and Distribution) design professionals while managing complex Power Delivery projects in Texas and beyond. You will likely have prior experience providing project management and technical leadership on small/medium Power Delivery projects.

You are now ready to take‑on a broader role including overseeing all aspects of larger and more complex Power Delivery projects, frequent client facing and relationship building, and providing operational support to a Power Delivery team. Equally important, you will have the desire and drive to grow a high performing team to help execute these projects.

As a Power Delivery Project Manager/Team Lead your role will encompass the following:

  • Establishing the primary local Power Delivery relationship with one or more local, strategic clients, including overseeing execution of projects, driving quality and delivery for that client, technical leadership, marketing new opportunities, and profitability to achieve business objectives.
  • Managing and leading Power Delivery projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management. Initially, focusing on substation projects and expanding to transmission and distribution projects in the future.
  • Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative staff.
  • Leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.
  • At times, being responsible for overseeing non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
  • Building, developing and supervising a local Power Delivery team and overseeing workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and performing annual performance reviews of team members.
  • Leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and delivering world class services to clients in the Texas region.
  • Collaborating with team members across the region and nationally and balancing staff workload, quality, utilization, team morale, and training.
  • Establishing a network of relationships with technical peers in other offices and leveraging those relationships and resources for work‑sharing opportunities.
  • Coordinating with marketing and technical leadership in support of business development opportunities.
  • Supporting, leading and engaging in broader business development activities for new opportunities…
