Guardian Engineering Enterprises, LLC is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in either our Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Brooklyn, NY office.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule
, blending in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

The successful candidate will lead and execute civil engineering design work focused on AI infrastructure, data centers, mission-critical facilities, and site development projects.

A Professional Engineer (PE) license and 8+ years of experience are required.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead comprehensive design and analysis of site development and civil infrastructure systems for AI infrastructure and data centers, including site layouts, grading plans, utility systems, and drainage infrastructure.

  • Conduct detailed civil engineering assessments of data center and industrial sites — including topographic analysis, geotechnical review, utility capacity evaluation, and site feasibility studies.

  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing findings, site analysis results, recommendations, and cost estimates for site improvements and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Develop construction documents and specifications for civil engineering systems in alignment with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

  • Design and specify civil infrastructure systems for large-scale facility developments, including roadways, parking areas, site utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage), and site improvements.

  • Lead site grading and earthwork design
    , including cut/fill optimization and erosion control measures.

  • Ensure compliance with civil engineering codes, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements
    , coordinating with agencies and utility providers.

  • Contribute to value engineering efforts
    , analyzing civil design alternatives, optimization strategies, and lifecycle costs to enhance performance and budget alignment.

  • Support procurement activities for civil construction, including bid documentation, addenda, and contractor inquiries.

  • Review submittals and respond to RFIs during construction to ensure alignment with design intent and specifications.

  • Conduct field observations and quality assurance inspections during construction, documenting progress and ensuring compliance.

  • Lead construction administration activities
    , including site observations, phasing coordination, and progress verification to minimize operational disruption.

  • Support client relationships through professional communication, mentor junior engineers, and manage man-hour estimates and schedules for civil projects.

Experience & Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) with 8+ years of experience in site development, utility design, and infrastructure projects.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Proven expertise in civil infrastructure design, site development, and utility engineering for commercial and industrial facilities.

  • Strong client-facing communication skills and experience presenting complex civil solutions.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, Hydro

    CAD, Storm

    CAD,
    and other industry tools.

  • Expertise in data center site development
    , large-scale grading operations, and utility coordination.

  • Proficiency in site planning for technology infrastructure facilities
    , including layout optimization and utility capacity planning.

  • Strong understanding of civil infrastructure design (roadways, drainage, utility networks, and site improvements).

  • Advanced knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance with experience coordinating with municipal agencies.

  • Proven ability to resolve complex engineering problems independently and guide team members through technical challenges.

  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff in collaborative environments.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
    , with the ability to meet aggressive schedules while maintaining quality standards.
