We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Configuration Manager to join the Gateway Exploration Development & Test Laboratory (XLab) Team in Johnson Space Center (JSC). The successful candidate will design, develop, implement and maintain the configuration management system, processes, and products for several labs onsite at JSC, and represent the group at various boards and reviews leading up to the Test Readiness Review (TRR).
The role will also cover lab configuration changes, documentation and management throughout all mission phases.
- Implement hardware and software version control processes, policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement configuration management tools (e.g. JEDII, COSMIC, Models and Sims) to store, track, and manage configuration items.
- Work with customers (other projects and hardware/software owners) to understand requirements and desired test outcomes.
- Maintain and develop the environment for hardware and software product build, staging, testing and integration.
- Develop configuration control and change management processes for lab equipment.
- Support changes in configuration for hardware and software both temporary and permanent related to nonconformances troubleshooting to ensure CM is fully engaged if needed.
- Utilize configuration management tools (e.g. JEDII, COSMIC, Models and Sims, etc) to store, track and manage configuration items.
- Manage configuration freeze process including integrity seals on hardware racks and software folders that will be used to support loading of both ground and flight software for individual tests.
- Manage and maintain configuration records for various tests for documentation or future anomalies that require investigation.
- Perform audits to confirm CM processes are being followed and the hardware matches the approved engineering drawings and make corrective action recommendations for disposition by Gateway T&V leadership.
- Represent the XLab at various control boards and readiness reviews.
- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master’s degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
- Outstanding written/oral communication skills with experience presenting data and disseminating information to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
- Experience with aerospace industry standard configuration management specifications.
- Experience with NASA/JSC configuration management standards and practices.
- Configuration management certification (CMII, CM, SEMC, etc).
- Previous management or supervisory experience with emphasis on team building and experience in successful consensus building.
