We are hiring a Safety Service Engineer II (Drafter) to work on‑site in our Houston, TX site.

The Safety Service Engineer II is responsible for the design, application, and/or development of products and engineering solutions. The engineer will work independently and with other engineers on projects, potentially across multiple engineering disciplines.

• Collaborating with mechanical and electrical hardware engineers to create complex, multi‑layer, high density designs using Solid Works or equivalent parametric CAD software for Draeger’s full line of fire, gas, and process safety systems.
• Responsible for creating product BOMs and Solid Works/CAD drawings to meet design requirements for customers’ Request for Quote (RFQ).
• Ensures designs comply with applicable industry standards and company requirements/processes to deliver a high level of quality and manufacturability within defined project timelines. This includes verifying feasibility of manufacturing and evaluating fit, form, and function of the final design.
• Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of detailed design assembly drawings, schematics or specifications, system components, and other associated documentation for assigned projects.
• Collaborates with design originators (e.g., electrical and mechanical hardware engineers and product architects) to resolve design details, project discrepancies, or documentation related issues.
• Investigates alternative approaches to assigned work to establish the best design solution that meets all specified criteria.
• Participates in design review discussions to understand the design process.
• Exhibits attention to detail, high accuracy, self‑motivation, and the ability to plan and organize responsibilities.
• In this role you will be reporting to the office located in Houston, TX.

• B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
• NICET Certified – A plus but not required
• 2+ years previous experience in design, analysis, and/or troubleshooting in an engineering environment. Technical knowledge in related disciplines.
• Design experience utilizing a computer‑aided design system. Competent with Microsoft Office software. Must possess the skill to operate in engineering disciplines under minimal supervision.

• Experience with Solid Works Computer Aided Design
  • Ability to create solid models with both cuts and extrusions.
  • Ability to create large scale assemblies.
  • Ability to produce drawings from multiple angles.
• Read and understand electrical schematics.
• Basic understanding of industry codes/standards such as NFPA 72, UL508A, NEC (Hazardous Locations).
• Experience working closely with hardware, electrical, and mechanical engineers to develop manufacturable and cost‑effective designs.
