Senior Site Safety & Health SpecialistPosition Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist to provide expert Safety & Health leadership across heavy construction project sites throughout Texas. This role is responsible for leading, implementing, and managing project-specific safety programs while partnering closely with project management, clients, and subcontractors to ensure all work is executed safely, compliantly, and in alignment with the goal of zero incidents.
The ideal candidate brings extensive field-based construction safety experience, particularly in high-voltage transmission, distribution, and substation environments, and has the confidence to lead safety initiatives in complex, fast-paced project settings.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and administer site-specific Safety & Health programs on active construction projects.
- Implement Corporate Safety & Health policies, procedures, and deliverables while addressing site-specific compliance issues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Local, State, and Federal OSHA regulations.
- Drive a proactive safety culture focused on achieving and maintaining zero safety incidents.
- Conduct regular safety audits, assessments, and performance reviews; complete all required documentation.
- Authority to stop work when conditions pose an immediate risk to life or health and collaborate with project leadership on corrective actions.
- Investigate near misses, incidents, property damage, and environmental events; recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Partner with client Safety & Health teams and subcontractor safety representatives to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Lead safety walk-throughs, document findings, track corrective actions, and verify timely resolution.
- Develop and distribute safety communications, memos, and awareness materials.
- Lead, conduct, and document Safety & Health training relevant to project activities.
- Maintain all safety records in an audit-ready condition and submit required reports to Corporate Safety & Health.
- Complete daily field safety reports and other required documentation.
- Travel and drive to various project sites as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
- One of the following education/experience combinations is required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7+ years of relevant experience
- Associate Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 9+ years of relevant experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 11+ years of relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of:
- OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations
- ANSI, NIOSH, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (EM 385-1), and NEC standards
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience supporting:
- High-voltage overhead transmission and distribution
- Substation construction environments
- OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Training (required).
- Current CUSP certification
, BCSP credential, or equivalent safety certification. - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work varying schedules based on project needs.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle safety standards.
