Our client is an industrial portfolio company of a global firm focused on the decarbonization of the industrial economy. A fantastic opportunity exists for a Procurement Specialist to assist delivery of a $50M capital project. Position will be based out of our clients' offices in The Woodlands, Texas with occasional travel as required to the project site in California.
This role will focus on sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers for equipment, materials, and services tied to industrial construction and manufacturing projects. The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in ensuring cost control, schedule alignment, and supplier performance.
Position OverviewThe Procurement Specialist will work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Contracts, and Finance to support the full procurement lifecycle, from RFQ development through vendor selection, purchase order issuance, expediting, and delivery coordination.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of industrial supply chains, capital equipment procurement, and vendor management in fast-paced project environments.
Key Responsibilities- Support procurement strategy for capital projects and operational needs
- Prepare and issue RFQs and RFPs for equipment, materials, and services
- Evaluate bids and conduct commercial comparisons
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
- Issue and manage purchase orders
- Coordinate with engineering to ensure technical compliance
- Track supplier performance and support expediting activities
- Monitor budgets and ensure alignment with project cost targets
- Support change management and resolve supplier issues
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting
- 8+ years of procurement experience in industrial, manufacturing, energy, or construction environments
- Experience supporting capital projects ($10M+ preferred)
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Understanding of industrial equipment and materials procurement
- Ability to review technical scopes in partnership with engineering teams
- Experience working with ERP or procurement systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in processing, advanced materials, infrastructure, or energy transition sectors
- Familiarity with EPC project environments
- Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
