A well-established, nationally recognized geotechnical and environmental engineering consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing Houston team.
This role offers the chance to work on a diverse mix of energy, commercial, municipal, and transportation projects across Texas, supported by a strong technical network spanning multiple offices.
The Houston operation is expanding due to increased project demand, offering clear professional growth into project management, technical specialization, or team leadership.
- Plan, execute, and oversee geotechnical field investigations , including drilling programs, test pits, in-situ testing, and laboratory coordination.
- Perform geotechnical analyses including bearing capacity, slope stability, settlement, retaining structures, pavements , and foundation design.
- Prepare well-written geotechnical engineering reports , design recommendations, and construction-phase guidance.
- Support and collaborate with internal teams across geotechnical, environmental, construction materials testing (CMT) , and other service lines.
- Assist with project budgeting, scheduling, proposal development, and maintaining client relationships.
- Visit project sites periodically to observe construction conditions, evaluate subsurface exposures, and troubleshoot geotechnical field issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians and contribute to building a strong technical culture in the Houston office.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering .
- 2-10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering within Texas or similar Gulf Coast soil environments.
- Understanding of Texas geologic conditions (soft clays, expansive soils, high groundwater, coastal environments).
- Experience with software such as SLIDE, LPILE, gINT, Settle3, Geo Studio , or similar.
- Strong report writing, communication, and client interaction skills.
- EIT required , and PE in Texas preferred (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
