HX5 is currently seeking a Structural Analyst to join the team with NASA at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Support structural analysis tasks across multiple NASA divisions.
- Perform classical hand stress analysis, finite element stress analysis and fracture analysis.
- Be familiar with NASA standards for analysis, including Fracture Control.
- Use NASGRO and other relevant tools.
- Proficiently model finite element systems using FEMAP for development and NASTRAN for solutions.
- Prepare structural analysis reports and collaborate with other engineers to resolve problems.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 2‑5 years of experience in the field or a related area.
- Familiarity with desktop software applications; MS Office required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using FEMAP.
- Previous experience performing structural analysis on NASA spaceflight hardware.
Full‑time position offering a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).
Work Environment- Generally an office environment, but may involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Position Requirements
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical; ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
