Senior Structural Engineer

A growing engineering-led infrastructure firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of complex high-voltage substation and utility infrastructure projects. This role will serve as a technical leader on medium- to large-scale projects, driving structural design execution while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead structural engineering design for electrical substation projects including steel structures, equipment foundations, control buildings, and support systems
• Perform advanced structural analyses and calculations using industry-standard software
• Develop and review drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
• Coordinate closely with project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure constructability and quality
• Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and resolve technical challenges
• Support proposal development, scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling efforts
• Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting team technical development
• Provide construction-phase support including site visits and field issue resolution
• Contribute to process improvements and structural design standardization initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET accredited)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
• 8+ years of structural design experience; utility or substation experience strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of steel and concrete design principles
• Strong working knowledge of ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, and relevant utility standards
• Proficiency in structural analysis tools (STAAD, RISA, SAP
  2000, ETABS, etc.)
• Experience with AutoCAD, Micro Station, and standard office software
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment
