The Senior Staff Conventional Reservoir Engineer will be assigned to the Corporate Development group and will use the combination of strong reservoir engineering skills with a business aptitude to evaluate acquisition opportunities including exploration, asset, multi-field, and corporate acquisitions within the framework of Talos Energy’s policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screen multiple opportunities and quickly identify the pros and cons of the opportunity
- Participate in management presentations, data rooms and technical discussions
- Communicate and assess subsurface risks, uncertainties and value drivers to drive work plans, analysis and approvals
- Perform technical evaluation for each opportunity including reservoir performance analysis and reserves estimation using a variety of modeling and analysis techniques
- Identify and utilize analogs to support reserve estimation and modeling work
- Guide multidisciplinary team members, as necessary, during evaluation and due diligence
- Facilitate approval of an opportunity by coordinating the collection of support data, including reserves, production forecasts, costs, capital, and economics
- Develop and/or support development of economic models for oil and gas assets and projects (exploration, development, and production)
- Establish and maintain a network of industry peers to assure exposure to acquisition opportunities
- Support other technical and financial disciplines within the corporation with ad hoc requests and projects
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering field
- 15+ years’ experience as a conventional reservoir engineer
- Experience working Deepwater assets
- M&A experience is desired
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Proficient in reservoir engineering skills including decline curve, volumetric, material balance, nodal, and pressure transient analyses. Experience in reservoir simulation desired
- Exposure to and understanding of geophysical/seismic concepts
- Strong understanding of deepwater exploration, development, and production economics
- Ability to identify potential production and reserve upside early in an evaluation
- Comfortable navigating technical complexity in offshore developments
- Experience evaluating and developing GoA Wilcox reservoirs is a plus
- Strategic thinker with sharp commercial judgment
- Highly collaborative, with ability to influence senior leaders and technical experts
- Resilient, detail-oriented, and able to manage high-stakes projects under tight deadlines
- Have a strong sense of integrity

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position
