Structural Project Manager | Houston, TXOur client, a leading structural engineering firm in Houston, is seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager to join their team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for bridging the gap between high-level design strategy and technical execution. You will mentor a talented team of engineers while acting as the primary point of contact for external partners to ensure the structural integrity and successful delivery of diverse commercial projects.
Position OverviewThe Structural Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of Assistant PMs, Staff Engineers, and Project Engineers. You will serve as the central hub for coordination between architects, MEP consultants, and internal design teams. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, proactive communication, and the ability to inspire a production team.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Oversee the daily workflow of Assistant PMs and engineering staff; review design work and provide constructive feedback.
- Technical Mentorship: Act as a resource for drafters and designers, resolving complex detailing questions and technical hurdles.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Proactively coordinate with architects and MEP designers to identify and resolve conflicts before they reach the field.
- Project Oversight: Manage schedules, budgets, and deadlines for multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Meetings & Representation: Attend project coordination meetings with architects and consultants to represent the firm’s structural interests.
- Quality Control: Perform thorough reviews of drawing sets and manage Construction Administration (CA) tasks, including submittal reviews and RFI responses.
- Experience: 8–10 years of professional experience in structural engineering and design, specifically within the commercial sector.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced knowledge of structural systems (steel, concrete, masonry, and timber) and building codes.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading project teams and mentoring junior engineering staff.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage client expectations and collaborate across disciplines.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to handle the logistics of several projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Location: Ability to work 100% onsite at the Houston, TX office.
