Caturus Energy is seeking a detail-oriented Subsurface Technician to support our Geoscience and Reservoir Engineering teams by maintaining high-quality subsurface datasets and enabling efficient development planning and execution. This role plays a critical part in ensuring data integrity across subsurface systems that underpin well planning, reservoir characterization, and asset development workflows. The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, a working understanding of upstream subsurface workflows, and a hands-on approach to managing and troubleshooting subsurface data in a fast-paced operating environment.
KeyAccountabilities
- Support subsurface development activities by maintaining accurate and reliable datasets across geoscience and reservoir engineering systems (geologic parameters, wellbore information, well header data, etc.)
- Support drilling and development workflows through coordination with geoscience and drilling teams on well plans, survey updates, and data transfers
- Load, organize, and validate newly acquired data from data rooms, regulatory agencies, and public data releases
- Ensure alignment and consistency of well metadata across subsurface platforms, including Kingdom, Whitson, Combo Curve, and ARIES
- Collaborate with IT and data governance teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of subsurface data standards and best practices
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the position successfully.
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical subsurface experience
Experience:
5+ years of experience in a subsurface analyst, geoscience technician, or reservoir engineering analyst role supporting upstream development activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of upstream subsurface data types, workflows, and development operations
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard subsurface and reservoir engineering tools such as Kingdom, ARIES, and Combo Curve
- Solid understanding of well data, including directional surveys, well headers (location, KB, elevation, TD), and log depth references
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, Microsoft fabric, and other data management technologies preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues that could impact drilling or development decisions
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple datasets
