DESCRIPTION:
The Sr. Reservoir Engineering Advisor is based in Houston and reports to the Director of Reservoir Engineering. This position is responsible for field development plans, reserves determination, and profitability analysis with a focus on deepwater assets within the framework of Talos Energy LLC’s policies and procedures and in compliance of applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities for the position of Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor – Deepwater at Talos Energy are presented below.
- Develop and optimize field development plans, integrating reserve estimates, production forecasts, and identification of risks, opportunities, and new drill targets with an emphasis on deepwater fields.
- Conduct advanced field studies using fit-for-purpose reservoir engineering tools from classical techniques to simulation to support development and exploitation opportunities.
- Perform reservoir surveillance techniques such as decline curve, pressure transient, and material balance analysis.
- Generate probabilistic and deterministic reserve/resource estimates, incorporating uncertainty and risk to guide investment decisions.
- Perform detailed economic evaluations of complex opportunities, including decision trees, probabilistic reserves, project risking, and incremental value analysis.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across subsurface, drilling, completions, and commercial functions to ensure timely and high-quality project execution.
- Drive technical assurance through peer reviews and external evaluations of drill prospects and acquisition opportunities.
- Communicate technical recommendations clearly to stakeholders including management, partners, and regulatory agencies through reports and presentations.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster technical excellence across the reservoir engineering discipline.
- Evaluate and recommend new software tools to enhance engineering workflows and efficiency.
- Support ad hoc cross-functional initiatives and requests across the organization.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 20 years of reservoir engineering experience with a strong focus on deepwater fields
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering field
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Subject matter expertise in reservoir engineering skills including volumetric analysis, fluid properties, material balance analysis, nodal analysis, pressure transient analysis, and decline curve analysis.
- Experience designing and interpreting formation evaluation programs.
- Experience in subsurface uncertainty analysis and reservoir simulation studies including evaluation of secondary recovery techniques
- Strong experience in reserves assessment according to SEC guidelines
- Proficient in economic evaluations of drilling, recompletion, and facility projects.
- Project management skills enabling the leadership of a multidisciplinary team from idea creation through project final investment decision and execution.
- Ability to effectively communicate opportunities with peers and senior management.
- Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload.
- Have a strong sense of integrity and the ability to deal with ethical situations effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
