We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Industrial Engineer Co-op with a strong focus on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). This role will play a critical part in enhancing workplace safety, standardizing production processes, and supporting data-driven decision-making for capital investments. The ideal candidate will have a background in manufacturing engineering and a passion for creating safe, efficient, and sustainable work environments.
Key Responsibilities- Process Assessment & Safety Analysis
- Evaluate all critical production processes to identify potential safety and environmental risks.
- Develop and implement Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for key tasks and operations.
- Recommend and support the implementation of process improvements to mitigate risks.
- Documentation & Standardization
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all critical production activities.
- Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements and internal safety standards.
- Training Program Development
- Design a comprehensive new hire training program for production roles, emphasizing safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Develop a training matrix to track employee training status and ensure compliance with training requirements.
- Data Collection & Capital Planning Support
- Assist in gathering and analyzing production and safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Support the justification and prioritization of capital investments through data-driven insights and cost-benefit analysis.
- Recent graduate or Senior level Engineering student;
Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field. - Working experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with EHS responsibilities.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience developing training programs and safety documentation.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems.
