This position requires an advanced knowledge and understanding of CAD design in civil engineering. You will receive work instruction from the Project Manager(s) for either Civil, Structural, or Platting projects and produce drawings in AutoCAD while writing reports to support assigned projects.

Pioneer Engineering is an engineering design and consulting firm specializing in civil and structural engineering, planning, and construction management services for residential, commercial, and light industrial clients. Founder Ali Tabboush, PE, has been providing engineering services in the Greater Houston area for more than 10 years. He assembled a qualified team, built strong relationships with jurisdictional personnel, and established a diverse client base, enabling Pioneer to deliver services at the highest levels.

• Work with Civil Project Manager on assigned tasks.
• Accurately create and revise CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instruction, and site visits.
• Seamlessly integrate and work with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to produce and alter drawings as assigned.
• Develop preliminary utility systems for client and internal review.
• Print various formats of drawing sets.
• Research and investigate jurisdictional requirements and utility maps to aid drafting and permitting.
• Assist in training new drafters in Pioneer’s standards.

• Communicate with Structural Team, including Project Coordinator, Consultants, and Clients, on project status, schedules, and requirements.
• Accurately create and revise CAD drawings from mark‑ups and verbal instructions.
• Prepare setups and layouts from architectural drawings based on Pioneer drawing standards as directed by the Structural Engineer.
• Perform quality control checks on drawings provided by the Structural Engineer.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare corresponding inspection reports.
• Other duties within the Structural Department as assigned.

• Advanced knowledge of civil engineering related to site development, structural design, platting, or other related fields.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Moderate knowledge of Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with reading and understanding charts, maps, and reference drawings for “as‑built.”
• Excellent knowledge of drawing development, arrangement, scale, orientation, dimensioning, cross‑sections and details, and other drafting practices applicable to drawing preparation.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
• Valid driver license and ability to travel for work.

• Minimum Associate’s Degree in CAD Design or related field OR equivalent work history.
• At least 2 years of experience in civil design.
