Position DescriptionThe Computer Aided Design (CAD) Administrator manages an organization's CAD software and systems to ensure functionality, security, and adherence to standards. Software programs include AutoCAD®, CADWorx®, and Blue Beam®.
Key Responsibilities- System Management:
Installing, configuring, and maintaining the latest versions of AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Blue Beam software, hardware, and associated servers. - User Support:
Providing technical assistance to CAD drafters and designers, troubleshooting problems, and conducting training sessions. - Data & Standards:
Developing and implementing standards for drawings that align with the drawing file management system, ensuring data integrity, and managing version control and archiving. - System Upgrades & Optimization:
Coordinating software updates, testing new versions, and implementing optimizations for improved productivity and efficiency. - License & Security Management:
Overseeing CAD software licenses, managing user accounts, and ensuring system security and proper data backups. - Integration:
Working with IT and engineering teams to integrate CAD systems with other design and engineering tools. - Project Management:
Leading or participating in CAD-related projects, evaluating user feedback, and recommending system modifications. - Managing CADWorx® Specifications:
Maintaining existing specifications, generating new specifications and revisions as required by the engineering/drafting team. - Managing Smart P&:
Providing support to Engineering and Drafting on the Smart P& and maintaining the Microsoft Access database.
- Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, Blue Beam), operating systems, and database management. - Technical Support:
Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and resolve technical requests efficiently. - Organizational
Skills:
Excellent skills in managing and organizing design data, standards, and user access. - Communication & Training:
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and develop and deliver effective user training. - Analytical & Problem‑Solving:
Strong analytical skills to evaluate system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions. - Industry‑Specific Knowledge:
Understanding of engineering concepts and technical standards relevant to natural gas, CO2, liquid terminal, and pipeline products. - Meridian Document Control Knowledge:
Experience with Meridian document management software is a plus.
- Experience:
Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience with an associate degree in drafting or equivalent; or 15–20 years without an associate degree. - Certifications & Training (applicants without these are still encouraged to apply):
- Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting or equivalent.
- Hexagon CADWorx® Administrator Training:
- Managing CADWorx® Specifications
- CADWorx® Isogen Training
- CADWorx® Pipe Support Training
- Office cubicle; ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- May require lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Some travel to other offices may be required.
- Work schedule:
8 hours per day, 5 days a week (currently Monday–Wednesday in office, Thursday–Friday remote).
