Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Bridge Team Lead to join our dynamic Transportation team in Texas. This role reports to the Transportation Discipline Lead and is the people manager for technical staff with a specialty in bridge design. The Team Lead is responsible for staff work assignments, career growth, day‑to‑day management, leading designs, QA/QC, and assisting with proposals for new work. This dual role requires a specific personality and the desire to help staff achieve goals.

The Team Lead will work across several project managers to properly staff projects and maintain a healthy work environment, collaborating with transportation disciplines as well as non‑transportation disciplines.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country where the job is located.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for staff growth, goal setting, reviews and day‑to‑day management.
  • Hire new staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects are staffed correctly.
  • Work with project managers on proposals, scopes and fees.
  • Lead and perform design for bridge, retaining wall, and culvert projects.
  • Prepare project analyses, load ratings, structure type studies, construction plans, and reports related to infrastructure projects.
  • Use local and federal bridge standards to prepare preliminary and final design documents, cost estimates, and bid documents.
  • Review or check design calculations, engineering estimates, and plans developed by others.
  • Perform hydraulic studies related to bridge design development.
What You Will Bring
  • BS in Civil Engineering or related technical design field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience preferred.
  • Licensed PE.
  • Must work near one of our Texas offices.
  • Prior people‑management experience is a plus.
  • Leadership ability to manage a team of varied experience levels and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work across disciplines to ensure project staffing or completion.
  • If licensed in another state, the ability to obtain a Texas license.
  • Ability to lead design and allocate work to others.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
