Job Summary
The Environmental Compliance Specialist supports Rela Dyne’s environmental compliance efforts across its national operations. This role ensures adherence to applicable environmental regulations, supports continuous improvement in environmental stewardship, and serves as a resource to internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements, permitting, audits, and training.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of balancing field-based audits with regulatory research, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct field audits to assess environmental compliance across Rela Dyne’s service areas.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely environmental compliance reports and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
- Research applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and develop concise, actionable summaries for implementation.
- Compile environmental data, metrics, and statistics for reporting to senior leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Complete environmental permitting documents accurately and on time for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Maintain professional correspondence with regulatory agencies, vendors, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine environmental compliance tasks.
- Deliver training and guidance on environmental topics to Rela Dyne employees, as needed.
- Support environmental initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
- Working knowledge of applicable environmental regulations, including:
- Petroleum Storage Tanks
- EPCRA
- RCRA
- NPDES
- Ability to research environmental topics, synthesize information, and recommend practical, compliant solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and in team environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA regulations preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field required.
- Experience supporting environmental compliance in industrial, energy, petroleum, or distribution environments preferred.
- Experience with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments is a plus.
- Prior training or facilitation experience is a plus.
