Acara Solutions is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer for our client in Texas
!

This role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting control systems and automation solutions within a manufacturing environment.

We are seeking qualified candidates with:

  • Experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
  • Proficiency with PLC programming
  • A hands‑on, proactive, and customer‑focused mindset
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and manage multiple projects
Control System Design & Development
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC‑based control systems (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
  • Develop and modify HMI/SCADA applications to enhance operator interface and system visibility.
  • Create/modify electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Specify and size control components, including motors, solar panels, sensors, actuators, VFDs, relays, and safety devices.
Project Execution
  • Lead automation and controls portions of new product introduction, existing product upgrades, cost‑out initiatives, and capital improvement projects, from concept through commissioning.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and process engineers to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Coordinate with external integrators, vendors, and panel shops during system build and installation.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including functional specifications, I/O lists, and acceptance test procedures.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Provide second‑level technical support for production equipment issues.
  • Diagnose control system failures, electrical faults, and communication/networking problems.
  • Implement solutions to reduce downtime and prevent recurring issues.
  • Ensure proper backup/restore procedures for PLC, HMI, and drive programs.
Process Optimization
  • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for automation improvements.
  • Implement control strategies that enhance throughput, reduce scrap, and improve quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
Safety & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain machine safety systems (e.g., safety PLCs, light curtains, interlocks).
  • Ensure control designs comply with NFPA, NEC, ISO, and relevant industry standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments and hazard analysis reviews.

Position Type: Direct Placement

Compensation: Up to $124K/yr.

Schedule: M-F 1st shift

Required Skills /

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley preferred).

Preferred Skills /

Qualifications:

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development (Factory Talk View, WinCC, Ignition, etc.).
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and panel designs.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks (Ether Net/IP, Profibus, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Familiarity with AC drives, servo systems, and motion control.
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • PDM.
  • Able to work with channel partners, suppliers, customers, and 3rd‑party manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience in high‑volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards and safety PLCs.
  • Exposure to MES systems, data collection, or IIoT technologies.
  • Experience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA) is a plus.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Control Systems Engineer - CSE) is beneficial.
