Position Specific DescriptionAs a member of a highly-specialized environmental quality group within Next Era Energy Pipeline Services Company (NEPS) Environmental, Health, Safety, and Emergency Response Department, the Senior PGD Environmental Specialist will ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and municipal environmental regulations for NEPS Landfill Gas and Renewable Natural Gas operated assets. The successful candidate will assist in permitting efforts for new facilities and play a key role in compliance assurance for facilities covered under existing permits and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities include maintaining compliance calendars, preparing emission calculations, scheduling emissions monitoring and testing, filing necessary forms and reports, conducting facility audits, liaising with government officials during inspections, and assisting in the preparation and implementation of corrective action plans. Ancillary duties include advising management of pending changes in environmental regulations and their potential impact on operations. This position reports to the NEPS PGD Environmental Services Manager.
Skills & Experience
- Thorough understanding of New Source Review (NSR) permitting, Title V permitting, and requirements under the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations;
- Experience in environmental compliance in the landfill gas sector (landfill gas-to-energy and renewable natural gas projects; gas collection and control systems; wellfield monitoring and reporting)
- Technically proficient at emission calculations, data analysis, control technologies, compliance auditing, permitting, and strategic regulatory analyses;
- Proficient in emission calculation software and environmental quality database management;
- Self-starter with strong cognitive problem-solving abilities;
- Team player with a demonstrated history of meeting project deadlines;
- Motivated goal-oriented individual with excellent organization, planning & implementation, time-management, and quality control skills;
- Ability to understand and communicate risks associated with permitting and maintaining compliance to leadership and within project execution teams;
- 5 years of experience in environmental quality permitting and compliance preferably in the landfill gas sector;
- BS in engineering, meteorology, environmental sciences, or other discipline related to the position;
- Local, State, and Federal Permitting and Compliance experience in the United States;
- Ability to work in a results-driven, fast-paced environment;
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, proposal and presentation);
- Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word;
- Able to travel up to 50% to and from company assets, proposed project sites, and for other agency/project meetings.
Valid driver's license required and successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
Job OverviewEmployees in this senior-level role are responsible for assuring execution of the PGD Environmental Management System and ensuring plant water chemistry parameters are maintained in accordance with fleet recommendations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Maintains water chemistry Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Control (QC) program and communicates corrective measures to the site/plant;
