Job descriptionThis position focuses on civil site and land development engineering for commercial and industrial projects. It does not involve structural engineering or vertical building design.
Altar Group, an architecture and engineering firm dedicated to serving the community and supporting local nonprofits, is seeking a Civil Engineer (PE) with a strong design background and 5–10 years of land development experience. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of grading, stormwater design, and water/sewer systems, as it pertains to commercial site development. Your expertise in Civil 3D and site design will be essential as you collaborate closely with our internal team to create efficient, buildable, and code‑compliant designs.
Responsibilities- Civil Engineering for commercial and industrial land development projects, including grading, storm drainage, detention design, floodplain mitigation, sewer and water infrastructure and site planning.
- With the aid of an EIT, research and interpret municipal codes and development regulations across various jurisdictions.
- Coordinate internally with architects and engineers to ensure cohesive and efficient designs.
- Support permitting processes by preparing plans and reports.
- Participate in design review meetings and provide input for improving plan efficiency and constructability.
- Contribute to a collaborative and mission‑driven team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required; (Additional licenses in Oklahoma and Louisiana, a plus but not required).
- 5–10 years of experience in land development and site design.
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility systems.
- Experience with site planning for commercial and industrial projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently, think critically, and communicate clearly.
- Passion for community service and a desire to serve others.
