Role Overview

The Technical Quotes Representative plays a critical role in ensuring customers receive fast, accurate, and technically validated quotations for sealing products and custom‑fabricated components.

This position requires strong technical aptitude, experience interpreting customer drawings and specifications, and deep familiarity with sealing materials and manufacturing processes. The role directly supports sales, engineering, purchasing, and customers, helping XMEK deliver responsive, competitive, and reliable quoting performance.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate, detailed quotes for sealing products, gaskets, O‑rings, PTFE components, and specialty engineered parts
  • Interpret customer drawings, engineering prints, tolerances, materials, and performance requirements
  • Validate manufacturability and feasibility before releasing quotes
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to confirm capability, cost assumptions, and alternative solutions
  • Verify material availability, vendor pricing, and lead times through coordination with procurement
  • Build cost structures for custom components based on BOM, machining/fabrication processes, and material usage
  • Maintain quoting accuracy across ERP and CRM systems
  • Communicate with customers to clarify technical details, specifications, and application needs
  • Provide product and material recommendations when appropriate
  • Support customer service and sales teams with technical quoting insights
  • Track quote performance metrics including turnaround time, accuracy rate, and win/loss trends
Required Background
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; technical or manufacturing‑related degree a plus
  • 2–5 years of experience in sealing products, gaskets, O‑rings, industrial distribution, or engineered components
  • Proven experience generating technical quotes in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, materials, and specifications
  • Understanding of elastomers, rubber compounds, PTFE, plastics, and common sealing materials
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as die cutting, molding, extrusion, and machining
  • Strong Excel skills for costing, breakdowns, and quoting sheets
  • Excellent communication skills for technical clarification and customer interaction
  • High accuracy, detail orientation, and ability to work under fast quoting timelines
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, purchasing, customer service, and sales
  • Experience at a sealing/gasket/O‑ring manufacturer or distributor
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ASME, ISO, or MIL standards for sealing materials
  • Exposure to application engineering or customer technical support
  • Understanding of tolerance stack‑ups and GD&T concepts
  • Experience quoting custom machined PTFE, elastomer, or polymer components
