Position OverviewThe Principal Geotechnical Engineer will serve as a senior technical authority within the Houston operations, leading complex geotechnical projects and providing strategic guidance to clients and internal teams. This role combines technical leadership with business development responsibilities, offering an opportunity to influence operational growth and mentor the next generation of engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Leads geotechnical projects from initial concept through completion, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
- Performs advanced geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.
- Reviews and approves technical reports, calculations, and design deliverables prepared by project teams.
- Acts as a trusted advisor to clients, building and maintaining strong relationships while identifying opportunities for additional services.
- Supports business development initiatives, including proposal preparation and participation in strategic planning for the Houston office.
- Mentors and develops junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensures adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations across all project activities.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including design and project management.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong client-facing and business development capabilities.
