Job Summary

The purpose of the Senior Project Engineer position is to assist the Project Manager in the day‑to‑day technical management of the project. This includes coordination of detailed design, schedule, procurement, and stage gate process (P&w, Hazop, Model Reviews, Safety Reviews).

Principal

Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in all aspects of the project both in the office and the field.
  • Coordinate discipline engineering between internal engineers and EPC partners to ensure completeness and timeliness.
  • Handle the day‑to‑day detailed management of the project schedule.
  • Handle the day‑to‑day transactional process of purchase and invoices.
  • Manage the document control process.
  • Manage all the design reviews including HAZOP/PSR and PSSR process.
  • Coordinate with Construction and Commissioning Program Managers on manpower requirements.
  • Other possibilities depending on experience level of Project Engineer.
  • Planning and implementation of commissioning.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on their assigned projects, approving budget, schedule, and technical progress.
Required Skills
  • Proven technical knowledge in multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of FEL/Stage/Gate project management methodology (PEMBOK), and project management software and tools (including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Primavera).
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel 20‑40% as required for site visits, shop visits, coordination with engineering contractors, QA/QC support, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering efforts simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • Approximately 5‑10 years of relevant experience in industrial gases or chemical plant design/operation/projects.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is  109,000‑ 146,000. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short‑term disability, life insurance, and paid time off as well as other voluntary benefits, such as long‑term disability in accordance with the terms and conditions of these plans. Employees are eligible to enroll in Messer's 401(k) Plan and may be eligible to participate in the company's bonus program.
