Job Purpose
The Materials Lab Technician supports the development, testing, and analysis of materials used in R&D environments. This role involves hands‑on work with lab equipment, preparation of samples, execution of test protocols, and documentation of results to support innovation and quality initiatives
Job Description- Prepare and process material samples for testing through mixing, curing, cutting, finishing, and chemical etching.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment including rheometers, mixers, ovens, tensile testers, microscopes, and hardness testers.
- Conduct physical, chemical, and mechanical tests on polymers, composites, metals, and other materials.
- Record, analyze, and report test data while ensuring adherence to lab protocols and quality standards.
- Support the development and improvement of test methods, procedures, and documentation.
- Maintain lab cleanliness, safety compliance, and inventory in line with 5S, Lean, and SSI requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and vendors during trials, evaluations, and equipment/process reviews.
- Contribute to Lean initiatives by identifying waste reduction and process optimization opportunities.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in materials science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, with strong familiarity with lab safety and chemical handling.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and protocols accurately.
- Proficient in communication, documentation, and basic data entry/analysis using Excel or lab software.
- Experience or exposure to polymer mixing, rheology, metallurgy, or thermal analysis.
- Knowledge of SDS documentation, chemical handling requirements, and lab safety standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment with engineers, scientists, and vendors.
