Recruitment Lead @ Brunel Energy | Talent Acquisition | Oil and GasWe are looking for a Structural Engineer to work with one of our major LNG clients in a contract position located in Houston, TX.
The Senior Structural Engineer plays a key role in supporting LNG development and expansion projects. This position is part of an Engineering & Construction (E&C) organization and provides structural engineering oversight, design assurance, and technical support to EPC contractors, with occasional support to site operations and maintenance activities.
The role works closely with multi-disciplinary FEED and EPC teams to ensure construction deliverables meet project objectives. Responsibilities include reviewing structural engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and related deliverables. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in civil/structural engineering, is proficient in structural analysis and design, and can manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities- Provide structural design guidance and quality assurance for LNG projects, including analysis of modular and sea-transported structures.
- Ensure project deliverables comply with applicable LNG regulations, industry codes, and project specifications.
- Verify structural designs are safe, reliable, and cost-effective over the facility life.
- Coordinate third-party engineering activities during FEED and EPC (e.g., surveys, metocean studies).
- Support regulatory and environmental permitting through technical input and documentation.
- Maintain strong working relationships with EPC engineering teams.
- Monitor contractor progress and report status to project leadership.
- Perform and verify material take-offs to support cost estimating.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations as required.
- Strong background in structural engineering for LNG, oil & gas, or petrochemical facilities.
- Experience with modular steel structures, including loadout, transport, lifting, and installation.
- Knowledge of shallow and deep foundation systems and interpretation of geotechnical data.
- Familiarity with construction practices for modular LNG or similar large-scale projects.
- Experience with regulatory permitting processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of LNG-related regulations (e.g., FERC, PHMSA) is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis required);
Master’s Degree preferred. - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in structural design for LNG, oil & gas, or petrochemical facilities, including foundations and modular steel structures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Navisworks, and STAAD.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, quality, and constructability.
