Leak Detection Engineer – Contract

Airswift is hiring a contract Leak Detection Engineer for their top midstream O&G client located in Houston, TX. This is a 1‑year contract with the possibility to extend.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic analysis, real‑time transient modelling, and analysis of alarms for liquid pipelines.
• Train operators and controllers.
• Execute the implementation of Enhanced Leak Detection System (ELDS) models and other Leak Detection and Prevention (LDP) initiatives.
• Monitor alarm rates on ELDS applications and investigate elevated alarm rates (“Bad Actor” false alarms).
• Evaluate CPM performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• Working knowledge of fluid properties and hydraulic theory.
• 5+ years of experience in the energy business with pipeline simulation.
• Midstream oil and gas experience preferred.
• Proficiency with at least one real‑time transient pipeline simulation software (additional software expertise is preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to see tasks through to completion.
• Ability to handle multiple ongoing assignments.

Preferred Proficiency

• DNV – Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) State finder / Leak finder Liquid.
• AVEVA – Liquid Management Suite (LMS).
• Atmos International – Atmos Pipe and Atmos Rupture.
• Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Google Earth.
