Position: Field Technician I

The Field Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting field and workshop operations through hands-on assistance with the assembly, disassembly, inspection, and testing of STATS equipment and tools. This role serves as a development pathway toward technical proficiency, with all tasks performed under close supervision and in accordance with STATS safety and quality standards. The Field Technician I will assist senior technicians at both onshore and offshore job sites and participate in ongoing training to build knowledge of STATS systems, tools, and procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in the assembly, disassembly, repair, and testing of STATS tools and equipment at STATS facilities and client locations.
  • Follow all HSE procedures and participate in toolbox talks and job safety analyses (JSAs).
  • Support senior technicians during on-site operations, both onshore and offshore, including travel on short notice as required.
  • Shadow senior field personnel to gain exposure to client interaction, site coordination, and field operations.
  • Receive mentorship from Level II and Supervisor Technicians to build foundational technical and operational knowledge.
  • Assist with maintaining material traceability and verifying that inspection tools are serviceable and properly documented.
  • Report any material or equipment defects to the Workshop Supervisor, Operations Manager or designated lead on site.
  • Ensure all work is performed using the latest drawings, procedures, and instructions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to gain familiarity with STATS services, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in both shop and field settings.
  • Assist in preparing tools and materials for mobilization to and from job sites.
  • Support other departments or teams as required by management.
  • Participate in training and development activities to progress toward competency in assigned tools and procedures, in alignment with objectives and targets set by the Operations Manager.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all STATS and/or client quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or hazards to your manager or foreman and complete the required documentation
  • Do not perform any task unless you have been properly trained and authorized to do so - when in doubt, stop and ask.
experience/ Competence/ skills/ knowledge
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn oilfield equipment assembly and testing techniques.
  • Exposure to or interest in mechanical, fabrication, or maintenance tasks in a hands-on setting.
  • Ability to work as part of a small, high-performing team where safety, quality, and client timelines are priorities.
  • Capable of working under pressure while maintaining a professional and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to learn how to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Understands the importance of using tools and equipment safely and correctly, with supervision.
  • Willingness to develop skills in using inspection, lifting, and test equipment under guidance.
  • Basic awareness of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
Qualifications
  • Trade school certification, technical training, or relevant hands-on experience in mechanical or industrial work environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for onshore and offshore assignments, including international work as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a TWIC card, Passport, offshore medical clearance, and applicable safety certifications as required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including background check and drug/alcohol testing.
