Electrical Engineer - Grid

Job Overview

Electrical Engineer 2 – Grid role at Sargent & Lundy. Hybrid work: three days in the office, two days remote. Generous relocation package depends on location.

• Work in a project team environment with engineers and designers on detailed electrical design and project management of high‑voltage substation projects.
• Take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
• Prepare reports that present technical and project information clearly and concisely, meeting client requirements and S&L formats.
• Share knowledge with other experienced engineers through S&L’s systems of process and Communities of Practice.
• Travel to client sites as needed.

• BSEE degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
• 1+ years experience in design of medium‑voltage power systems.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
• Experience tracking project information such as schedules, expenditures, status reports, and client interface.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• 1+ years experience in design of substations 138 kV and above (preferred).
• Knowledge of substation grounding, direct stroke shielding, battery & charger sizing calculations (preferred).
• Physical layout and protection & controls experience (preferred).
• Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards as they relate to substation design (preferred).
• PE license (preferred).
• AutoCAD experience (preferred).
• Not sponsor work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

$66,000.00 – $94,810.00

Sargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or an hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting overall well‑being of our employees.
