The temporary Process Automation Engineer position for projects under the JETS II contract at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. This is a temporary position not to exceed 26 weeks.
Responsibilities- Review existing processes within the Crew and Thermal Systems Division, Systems Test Branch, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Update, maintain, and enhance software applications to improve operational efficiency.
- Design, create, and upgrade Human‑Machine Interface (HMI) screens to enhance usability and overall user experience.
- Utilize AI/ML tools and methodologies to support scalable document control, configuration management, and system identification.
- Perform system checkouts, procurements, testing, maintenance activities, and develop supporting technical documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, with relevant experience.
- Computer programming experience.
- Experience working with SQL databases and SQL Server.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation system procedures.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and their applications.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems such as ICONICS and Ignition.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and associated programming software.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and standard software tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, with relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated computer programming experience.
- Experience working with SQL databases.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation system procedures.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and their practical applications.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
