Spacecraft Software Development & Verification Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to join the JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The role focuses on developing and verifying spacecraft software systems that enable deep space exploration.
Responsibilities- Develop software code for spacecraft modules and ground software testing tools.
- Analyze software performance and conduct integration or verification testing.
- Document software requirements, use cases, and system interfaces.
- Validate software functions and interfaces using an integrated simulation environment.
- Develop unit and interface verification tests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2–5 years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Python, C, C++ programming.
- Experience with event- and data-driven architecture.
- Experience with TCP/IP network communications and CCSDS packet protocols.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools and web-based collaboration tools.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, negotiation, and coordination skills.
- Strong customer service attitude.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Engineering with related experience.
- Leading technical work for a small software team.
- Knowledge of NASA spacecraft software systems and relevant processes (e.g., CMMI, DO‑178).
- Experience with spacecraft or autonomous systems.
- Experience with CCSDS telemetry systems.
- Quick learner, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong coordination, organizational, and time‑management skills.
