Our global team of industry leaders looks for success‑oriented Project Engineers to work on a wide variety of water projects across the industry. HDR is a 100% employee‑owned company with more than 2000 professionals in the Water Business Group offering services such as utility master planning, wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, flood protection, water resource management, reuse, applied research, and more.
WhatYou’ll Do
As a Project Engineer, you’ll be part of a collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering high‑impact water and wastewater projects. Whether you’re crunching design calculations or coordinating across offices, your work will directly support the success of our clients and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Support and lead projects related to water, wastewater, and/or water resource management.
- Prepare design calculations, cost estimates, technical reports, and engineering plans and specifications with precision and creativity.
- Accumulate and analyze data, presenting findings in professional reports, memos, and presentations for internal and client use.
- Take initiative and work independently while collaborating effectively with Project Managers and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Lead portions of design work and help ensure high‑quality, accurate deliverables that meet regulatory and industry standards.
- Assist with permitting applications and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with team members across multiple offices and disciplines to keep projects on track and aligned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Previous experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water‑focused projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Ability to make independent decisions and be accountable for the results.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.

Expected compensation range: $67,000 – $134,000 depending on skills, experience, education, and location.
