Job Overview

STQ Partners are recruiting for a strategic and experienced Estimating Manager to lead a talented estimating team within a well-established industrial manufacturing organization. This role is critical to driving the company’s growth by ensuring the timely delivery of accurate, competitive, and high-quality proposals for complex, multi-plant projects. The ideal candidate will be both a hands‑on estimator and a leader—someone who can mentor a team, optimize processes, and collaborate closely with sales, project management, and customers to secure new business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a technical, fast‑paced environment and is passionate about building a high‑performance team while contributing directly to the company’s success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team, fostering a positive and results‑driven culture.
  • Act as a senior estimator, stepping in to prepare quotes and proposals during peak workload periods.
  • Partner with Business Development Managers, Project Managers, and customers to define project scope and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain standardized quote templates within the company’s CRM/ERP systems.
  • Build accurate bills of materials from customer specifications, schematics, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain and utilize ERP data to ensure precise costing.
  • Oversee the estimating modules within the ERP and maintain proposal data in the CRM.
  • Review and approve proposals to ensure competitiveness and alignment with business goals.
  • Manage the quote schedule to meet customer deadlines and support estimating needs across all company locations.
  • Analyze and report on team performance and quoting metrics to senior leadership.
  • Continuously improve estimating processes, tools, and accuracy by incorporating industry best practices and new technology.
Must‑Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in estimating and proposal management.
  • 5+ years of experience within electrical manufacturing or a closely related industry.
  • 10+ years of proven experience managing and developing teams.
  • Hands‑on experience as an ERP “Super User” and CRM administrator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build relationships internally and externally with a customer‑focused approach.
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical business practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate to advanced).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, specifications, codes, and drawings.
  • Results‑driven with a strong work ethic and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must reside in the Greater Houston area.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and physical/driving requirements.
  • Alignment with a culture centered on core values such as quality, ownership, and collaboration.
Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Programming skills related to quotation software.
What They Offer
  • Strong Healthcare Support: 100% company‑paid medical premium at the employee‑only level; 80/20 cost sharing for other coverage tiers.
  • Retirement & Ownership: 401(k), profit sharing, and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
  • Growth & Development:
Scholarships, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, and professional development opportunities.
  • Work‑Life Balance:
Generous PTO, paid holidays, and a family‑friendly environment.
  • Stability & Culture:
Average employee tenure exceeds five years, with opportunities for career advancement.
