Our Virtual Data & Design Team is looking for a Senior Structural Designer to support our Advanced Power Generation space.

Functions as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist and/or supervisor. Applies advanced technical expertise to address complex design challenges, typically within a specific engineering discipline, and contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) in conjunction with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.

In addition to hands‑on design and production responsibilities, this role provides consultation, training, and oversight to other engineering technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to project standards.

Communicate and may set appropriate design and graphic standards. Review project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables. Promote quality within project/group/section. Review design inputs to ensure consistency. Assist to ensure deliverables comply with specific codes and standards. May contribute to continuous improvement of guides and standards. May participate in and lead process improvement activities and assignments.

Responsible for drawing control and historical records using the appropriate method, as established by the project. Demonstrate personal accuracy and drive continual improvement and change management efforts. Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing complex design concepts and deliverables. Apply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation. Handle difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and provide technical guidance to other professionals.

Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records. Review deliverables of others. Coordinate the presentation, delegate production design, or other electronic applications. Monitor production to assure consistency with budget and schedule of deliverables. Program control systems or participate in other plant start‑up activities. Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.

Support field activities. Communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules. Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate concerns. Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities. Identify training and development needs for personnel, supervise, and participate in training efforts.

Recognize expertise in one or more areas. Assign special assignments depending on technical expertise. Make presentations and conduct training classes within a specialized area of expertise.

Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred. Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology (preferred).
