Position: Staff/Senior Engineer – Piping, Pipe Stress & Vessel

Mariana Minerals is looking for a highly motivated Staff/Senior Piping / Pipe Stress / Vessel Engineer with experience in piping, pressure vessel, and tank engineering. Mariana Minerals is building the critical minerals supply chain to support the world’s energy transition.

As a Staff/Senior Piping / Pipe Stress / Vessel Engineer at Mariana Minerals, you will lead the development and deployment of first-of-its-kind chemical refining processes, while also supporting development of software for capital project execution and automated plant optimization. Responsibilities will include leading basic and detailed engineering strategies, managing external engineering firms, staff-aug contractors, and internal teams, developing issued-for-construction engineering packages for piping and static equipment.

What

You’ll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive flexibility and computational pipe stress analysis using Caesar II for various piping systems
  • Design and analyze pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2 using PV Elite or Compress software
  • Provide detailed markups on piping diagrams and isometrics to guide piping and structural designers
  • Specify pipe guides, anchors, supports, and alternative materials or suppliers to meet project schedules
  • Review and ensure the quality of 3D design work (Revit, Plant3D, CADWORX) by the Process Design Team, incorporating pipe stress and pressure vessel analysis results
  • Generate bills of material for supports, guides, anchors, stops, flex joints, and expansion joints for procurement
  • Perform dynamic analyses, including slug flow, water hammer, and flange leakage checks, using Caesar II
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for critical vessel junctions using FE Pipe or Nozzle Pro
  • Communicate the impact of stress and vessel analysis on designs and elevate concerns regarding schedules or material lead times
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on piping and pressure vessel design, ensuring compliance with ASME and ASTM codes
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, staff augmentation engineers, and high‑value engineering partners
  • Edit and tailor pipe and pressure vessel specifications to meet project‑specific requirements
  • Review and approve final design documents, including isometrics, shop drawings, material submittals, and pipe support designs
  • Support onsite construction and commissioning by addressing technical questions and resolving issues in real time
  • Continuously improve project workflows and standards to ensure consistent, high‑quality designs for piping and pressure vessels
What You’ll Bring
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to leverage the understanding to solve challenging problems
  • A strong foundation in piping or vessel engineering with a demonstrated ability to apply first principles to solve complex design and field challenges
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in piping and pressure vessel engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain within 6 months (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of ASME piping codes (B31.3), ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2, ASTM piping standards, structural codes, and building/fire codes
  • Expert proficiency in Caesar II for pipe stress analysis and Nozzle Pro for allowable nozzle loads
  • Hands‑on experience designing pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Div 1 (experience with Compress software preferred)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a cross‑functional environment with structural, process, and high value engineering teams
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with stakeholders and clearly convey technical information
  • Experience with equipment engineering and design. Including but not limited to:
  • Brownfield equipment modifications and upgrades
  • Greenfield equipment design
  • Evaluation and optimization of operating equipment
  • Experience with the following industries and/or production environments:
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Large‑scale mining or mineral processing
