Primary Services is excited to announce the role of the Fiber Construction Designer for our client. This position provides an opportunity to design and deliver fiber-optic construction plans for both aerial and underground projects. As a Fiber Construction Designer
, you will collaborate with utility operators, permit authorities, and project teams to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient network deployment for a large, growing telecommunications company.
Base pay range
$54,080.00/yr - $58,240.00/yr
Responsibilities:
- Determine optimal fiber routes for new construction projects.
- Design and complete construction plans for aerial and underground fiber-optic facilities.
- Prepare and submit permitting applications, including pole attachment height approvals.
- Participate in and lead field meetings with joint, public, or private utility operators.
- Provide turn-key design solutions from hub site to customer premise.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and industry standards, including NESC and utility requirements.
- Track and document GPS coordinates and other technical specifications as required.
- Support additional project-related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in aerial fiber-optic cable design and underground fiber route planning.
- Familiarity with power pole requirements, including height of attachment, space, class, guying, anchors, and cable rearrangements.
- Knowledge of fiber optic construction industry standards and Centerpoint/AT&T construction standards.
- Experience with local permitting entities, including TxDOT, Harris County, and railroad authorities.
- Understanding of NESC requirements and measuring aerial clearances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word;
Microsoft Access preferred. - GIS experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle for travel to job sites.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
