Electrical Field Service Technician – Jenbacher Engines

Join our team as an Electrical Field Service Technician for the Jenbacher team in the U.S. This role involves hands‑on electrical and some mechanical field service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines ranging from 0.25 to 9.5 MW, which run on natural gas or a variety of alternative gases.

• Execute service hands‑on activities in compliance with the engine maintenance protocol, replacing filters and components, performing mechanical and electrical inspections, and measuring key parameters.
• Carry out minor repairs and additional tasks beyond scheduled service.
• Conduct troubleshooting with an analytical mindset, proposing solutions aligned with Jenbacher services, and interpreting electrical, mechanical, and electronic failures, as well as control system issues.
• Work with third‑party suppliers when necessary.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, and customer personnel in a team‑player or leadership capacity.
• Provide information about planned services and maintenance progress updates.
• Own assigned sites and customers, proactively seeking to maximize engine reliability.
• Generate technical reports detailing the reason for visits, actions performed, results, material usage, and recommended follow‑up actions.
• Maintain a basic toolset, critical spare parts, vehicle condition, and ensure proper storage and approval of all equipment.
• Process timesheets, expense reports, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) forms, and job reports promptly.
• Comply with all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

• Prior field technician experience in automotive, power generation, heavy equipment, or diesel engines.
• Ability to crouch, twist, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Good electrical knowledge and electrician skills, such as wiring panels and alternators.
• Experience interpreting wiring diagrams, interphase, and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC).
• Troubleshooting skills with an analytical mindset.
• Legal permit to work in the United States.
• Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight trips.

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work remotely when required.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; sponsorship for employment visas will not be provided.
• Ability to meet and maintain insurability standards to drive a company vehicle when needed.

• Familiarity with Jenbacher gas engines, natural gas engines, or reciprocating engines.
• Experience in power generation applications.
• Competence in understanding, implementing, and communicating technical procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong customer focus and ability to interact with customers at operational and management levels.
• Good computer skills, office proficiency, and familiarity with logic control software.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Excellent English proficiency for technical conversations and clear reporting.
