Position Summary / Job Goals:

To deliver high-quality English instruction that sets ambitious expectations and supports all learners in achieving strong academic outcomes. To create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and mastery of language, literature, and communication skills.


Qualifications / Training:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in English or a related field.
• Teaching certification or equivalent professional training.
• Strong pedagogical understanding of English instruction, assessment, and differentiation.
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.

Experience / Knowledge:

• Demonstrates expert knowledge of English content and effective instructional practices.
• Designs coherent sequences of lessons that deepen understanding and build complex literacy and analytical skills.
• Uses formative and summative assessment to guide instruction, diagnose learning needs, and provide actionable feedback.
• Understands how young people develop and personalizes instruction based on ability, background, interests, and learning needs.
• Creates and maintains high expectations for student progress, behavior, and classroom culture.
• IB and/or AP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Set ambitious expectations for all students and take responsibility for their academic progress in English.
• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote deep understanding, critical thinking, and advanced literacy skills.
• Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment rooted in high standards of behavior and mutual respect.
• Use assessment data to monitor learning, adjust instruction, differentiate support, and provide timely and meaningful feedback.
• Communicate regularly with parents and colleagues regarding student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
• Participate actively in professional learning, reflect on teaching practice, and implement strategies to improve student outcomes.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and wider Nord Anglia Education initiatives, fostering collaboration and global citizenship.
• Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and the school's values in all interactions.
