The University of St. Thomas ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).), a private Catholic university located in Houston, Texas, the nation's fourth largest city, committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time position of Assistant Professor of International Studies housed in the Department of International Studies & Modern Languages.
The Department of International Studies & Modern Languages at the University of St. Thomas is a multidisciplinary program providing quality education to the next generation of global leaders. The Department consists of eight full-time faculty members. It offers six major programs, including International Studies, International Development, Global Cybersecurity, Diplomacy, East Asia Studies, and Spanish, as well as its own graduate program, the Master's in Diplomacy & Strategic Affairs.
We seek candidates with teaching and research interests in international development, international political economy, and Latin American studies. Preferences will be given to candidates specializing in quantitative methods.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in International Studies, International Affairs, Political Science, or a related discipline and have prior teaching experience in related courses. Active contacts and experience in Latin America are highly preferred.
The salary for this one-year Visiting Assistant Professor appointment is $60,000. Renewal beyond the initial term is subject to both budgetary conditions and the candidate's performance.
