The University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) invites applications for a promotion‑eligible, non‑tenure track, open‑rank clinical faculty position in Lawyering Skills & Strategies (LSS) for the academic year 2026‑2027. The contract is for nine months, beginning with the August 2026 semester and continuing through the Spring 2027 semester.
Responsibilities- Teach two courses each semester of UHLC’s first‑year legal writing course, entitled Lawyering Skills & Strategies.
- J.D. degree from an ABA‑accredited law school (or equivalent).
The appointment has a one‑year probationary contract period with no presumption of renewal. Successful evaluation may lead to additional annual contracts and a presumptively renewable multi‑year contract at the rank of associate or full. Initial salary range is approximately $94,000 for a nine‑month academic year at the Assistant level; salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
The position is eligible for an annual travel and professional development allotment and may participate in a summer research program that provides funds to support scholarship. No time is accrued toward tenure at the University of Houston.
