Position Overview

The Adjunct Instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program in Houston, TX, plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education and fostering the development of future pharmacy technicians. This position requires leveraging professional expertise to create, maintain, and deliver a robust curriculum that aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The instructor will engage students in a learner-centered environment, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the pharmacy technician field.

Responsibilities
  • Provide competency‑based education that meets the College of Health Professions' standards
  • Deliver online and distance‑learning instruction effectively, ensuring student engagement and success
  • Develop and maintain course plans, materials, and lesson plans aligned with program objectives
  • Teach and explain the diverse roles and responsibilities of pharmacy technicians in various settings, including hospitals and retail pharmacies
  • Instruct students on critical topics such as pharmacology, sterile and non‑sterile compounding, billing and reimbursement, inventory management, pharmacy law, and quality assurance
  • Prepare students for the pharmacy technician certification examination by reviewing key components and providing targeted guidance
  • Conduct lab sessions to develop students' clinical skills and ensure mastery of practical applications
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and accreditation standards
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date faculty files in accordance with CHCP and ABHES requirements
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development through participation in in‑service training and ongoing educational activities
  • Ensure adherence to academic policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of instructional quality and compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals and institutional objectives
Qualifications
  • Certification in Pharmacy Tech (CPhT) and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmacy technician field
  • At least 3‑5 years of professional work experience in a pharmacy setting
  • Approval as an instructor by ABHES and TWC
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with supervisors, staff, and students
  • Superior organizational, prioritization, and self‑motivation abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently as a leader
  • Adaptability to changing assignments and priorities in a dynamic educational environment
  • Commitment to meeting program metrics, including attendance, student persistence, satisfaction survey results, and certification outcomes
  • Experience in preparing and implementing new courses or textbooks as required by program needs
  • Active participation in professional development and campus‑sponsored training activities
