Job Summary:

Faculty are primarily responsible for planning, facilitating, and assessing student learning; creating strong partnerships with families; and actively participating in the ongoing development of the curriculum materials for the courses taught. Faculty are developed and supported via on-going feedback and professional development sessions throughout the school year. Members of the Cristo Rey Jesuit faculty seek ways to teach and model being men and women for others.
They interact in a positive and caring way with students, and take an active position in celebrating and upholding the Catholic and Jesuit identity of Cristo Rey Jesuit.

Preference is given to candidates willing to get involved in the school community by moderating clubs, coaching athletic teams, and serving as adult leaders on retreats.
Primary Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop rigorous lessons in subject area through a culturally relevant lens for predominantly first generation, low-income students.
- Utilize data-driven instruction and analysis of student assessment data to adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Incorporate Ignatian pedagogy in order to design more effective classroom experiences.
- Set and maintain high academic expectations for all students.
- Design and update course curriculum documents using backwards planning and assessment data.
- Foster relationships with families and communicate to better facilitate open communication.
- Hold weekly tutorial hours to provide additional instruction and support to individual students.
- Adhere to mastery-based grading policy; update grades in a timely manner.
- Communicates with parents of students failing class.
- Build appropriate rapport and trust with students; redirect student behavior as needed.
- Develop professionally by working with other teachers and leaders to improve student learning, participating in professional development, and providing and receiving feedback from school leaders.
- Commit to our mission to inspire and prepare students of limited economic resources to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, committed, and competent men and women for others for the greater glory of God.
- Participate in the school community through supervision duties, retreats, and special events.
- Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree preferred
- State of Texas Teacher's Certification strongly preferred, or must have a Bachelor's Degree in the content area and at least 12 credit hours in education. Candidates without state certification, must complete state certification within the first two years of employment.
- 3-5 years teaching experience in marginalized communities preferred
- Proficiency in Spanish preferred
