The Lycée International de Houston (LIH) wasestablishedin 2017 by passionate founders from diverse cultural backgrounds who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. As the only accredited bilingual school in Houston serving students from
18 months through 12th grade, LIH offers a unique dual-language immersion program in French and English. The Lycée International de Houston holds accreditations from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). The school is also affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
Position OverviewLycée International de Houston is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and experienced
Band Music Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year.
The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop musicalproficiency, discipline, collaboration skills, and a lifelong appreciation for music. This educator will build and lead a comprehensive band program that fosters artistic expression whilemaintaininghigh academic and performance standards.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Instrumental Music, or a related field (Master’spreferred)
- Experience teaching instrumental music at the elementary, middle, and/or high school levels
- Experience directing ensembles and organizing performances
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Work authorization in the United States
- Experience in bilingual or international school settings
- Ability to teach a range of band instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion)
- Experience preparing students for concerts, competitions, and community performances
- Knowledge of IB philosophy and inquiry-based instruction (preferred)
- Ability to integrate music technology into instruction
- Willingness to contribute to extracurricular programs and school events
- Develop and implement a comprehensive band curriculum aligned with school standards
- Teach instrumental music classes across assigned grade levels
- Build foundational music literacy skills (rhythm, tone, technique, theory)
- Direct band rehearsals and prepare students for performances
- Organize and lead school concerts, recitals, and special musical events
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and confidence through ensemble participation
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary projects and cultural events
- Participate in school-wide events (concerts, festivals, open houses, cultural celebrations)
- Contribute to weekly duties such as supervision and community engagement
- Passion for inspiring young musicians
- Strong leadership and ensemble-directing skills
